Application Process
Applications Open Annually: January 1 – April 31.
Review by Membership Committee: Applications are reviewed by the Membership Committee in May.
Recommendations are made to the ISOO Executive Board.
Voting and Approval:
Ordinary Membership: Requires a majority vote by all existing Ordinary members, which will take place in the first two weeks of June.
Other Membership Categories: Approved by the Executive Board in June.
Notification of Acceptance: Decisions will be announced by July 15.
Final Steps:
Complete the registration process and pay annual dues to officially become a member.
Membership Groups & Requirements
ISOO embraces professionals from varied backgrounds and experiences.

Ordinary ISOO members are medically qualified and are actively engaged in clinical patient care or research in the field of ocular oncology. Applicants must provide evidence of authorship or co-authorship in published articles cited on Medline (PubMed) in ocular oncology.
Requirements:
Evidence of expertise through:
Authorship/co-authorship of one or more published articles cited by Medline, OR
A letter of recommendation from an Ordinary Member if publications are not available.
Must show potential for meaningful scientific contributions to ISOO.
Approval Process:
Application reviewed by the Membership Committee.
Elected by a majority vote of Ordinary Members.
Key Benefits:
Voting rights on all ISOO matters.
Eligible to serve on the Executive Committee and hold officer roles.
Full access to ISOO resources and events.
Term: Ongoing (contingent on meeting attendance and dues).
Requirements to Maintain Membership:
Must not miss three consecutive Regular Meetings without submitting valid written excuses approved by the Executive Council.
Dues: Annual dues apply.

For healthcare professionals, scientists, or allied health professionals where ocular oncology is not their primary focus but is a secondary area of involvement or interest.
Requirements:
Must demonstrate qualifications or provide a letter of recommendation from an Ordinary Member if qualifications are not independently evident.
Approval Process:
Application reviewed by the Membership Committee.
Elected by majority vote of the Executive Council.

Participation in ISOO activities, conferences, and resources.
Networking opportunities with global experts.
Term: Ongoing (contingent on dues).

Professionals employed in the biopharma or medical device industries, NGOs, or patient-directed support organizations contributing to ocular oncology.
Requirements:
Must hold employment in relevant roles connected to ocular oncology research, support, or care.
No letter of recommendation required.
Approval Process:
Application reviewed by the Membership Committee.
Elected by majority vote of the Executive Council.

Participation in ISOO conferences and events.
Access to ISOO member resources.
Term: Ongoing (contingent on dues).
Dues: Annual dues apply.

Medical doctors, scientists, or allied health professionals currently in training.
Requirements:
Proof of training.
A letter of recommendation from an Ordinary Member describing their involvement in ophthalmic oncology.
Training does not need to be in ophthalmology or ophthalmic oncology specifically.
Approval Process:
Application reviewed by the Membership Committee.
Elected by majority vote of the Executive Council.
Key Benefits:
Full access to ISOO resources and conferences.
Opportunity to transition to a permanent membership category after training.
Opportunities to apply for travel grants to help fund participation for ISOO meetings.
Term: Valid for up to two years after training ends.
Dues: Annual dues apply.

Retired Ordinary Members who have actively participated in ISOO activities.
Requirements:
Must have attended at least four Regular Meetings during active membership.
Submit a formal request or receive a nomination from the Executive Council.
No letter of recommendation required.
Approval Process:
Reviewed and approved by the Executive Council.

Lifetime access to ISOO resources and conferences.
Attendance at Business Meetings (non-voting).
Term: Lifetime.
Dues: None.

Distinguished individuals recognized for significant contributions to ophthalmic oncology or medicine.
Requirements:
Must be nominated by the Executive Council.
No letter of recommendation required.
Approval Process:
Elected by a two-thirds majority vote of Ordinary Members.

Lifetime access to ISOO resources and events.
Term: Lifetime.
